Deleting Your Account and Data
Effective date: September 1, 2026
Who this page is for
This page is for drivers who use the IFTAX Driver app, and for people who submitted an employment application through IFTAX. It explains how to have your account and your personal information deleted.
You do not need the app installed, and you do not need to sign in, to make the request.
How to ask
Ask your carrier first. A driver account in IFTAX is created by the transportation company you drive for, not by you. That company decides what it keeps about you and for how long, and it is the one that can remove your account. Ask the person who handles safety or payroll there.
If that does not work, write to us at info@iftax.org from the email address or with the phone number your carrier has on file, and tell us the name of the company. We will pass the request on and act on whatever is ours to act on. We will not delete a carrier’s records on the word of someone we cannot connect to that carrier - that protection cuts both ways.
What deleting your account removes
- Your sign-in for the app, and any device registered to receive notifications.
- Your profile as a driver: name, contact details, and the personal details on your record.
- Your recorded positions, and your consent to record them.
- Documents you uploaded that belong to you rather than to a trip - for example a copy of your licence or your medical card.
- An employment application you submitted, including anything sensitive in it.
What cannot be deleted, and why
Some records are not ours to remove, because federal regulation requires the carrier to keep them, and a driver’s request does not lift that duty. These stay with the carrier for as long as the law says:
- Inspection reports and the record of defects and repairs.
- Accident records the carrier is required to keep on its register.
- Records of what a driver was paid, and the documents behind them.
- Signed agreements, which remain evidence of what was agreed.
- Documents that belong to a trip rather than to you - a bill of lading is the load’s paperwork, not yours.
Where a record must be kept, we remove what identifies you from it where that is possible without destroying the record itself.
What goes on its own, without asking
- Position records are deleted automatically 90 days after they are recorded.
- Walkaround videos from vehicle inspections are deleted after 12 months. The inspection report is a record the carrier must keep and stays.
- Signing out of the app removes the notification token for that device immediately.
After deletion
Backups and system logs may still hold a copy for a period afterwards, in the ordinary course of running the service. They are not used to restore a deleted account and age out on their own.
What we hold, why, and for how long is described in full in our Privacy Policy.
